If you want to work with children from birth to 5 years this course will prepare you to enter the workforce as an assistant in an early years setting. You will be able to develop your knowledge at the same time as applying related skills in a real work environment.

What you need to get on

You will need:----A DBS ( Disclosure and Barring Service) check undertaken by your placement. In some circumstances the college will carry out your DBS, but there will be a charge for this.--A voluntary work placement or employment with children aged 0-5 years--Numeracy/Literacy at Level 1----You will also need access to:----A computer and the internet--

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
