Information Technology (IT) has a significant role in the world around us. You will be able to develop the knowledge, skills and understanding required for the new and emerging technologies in the IT and Computing Sector. This one-year course provides an excellent start in IT. You will study a wide range of topics that provide a strong base for progression to the Extended Diploma in IT, apprenticeships or employment. The Foundation Diploma consists of variety of units completed over one year and includes a wide range of IT topics. Units are designed to give you an insight into the varied careers in Computing and IT, helping you to identify areas of interest and your future specialism. The learning programme blends technical and academic skills. You will take part in coursework, online learning, presentations, demonstrations and practical work. Units may include: Fundamentals of IT Information Systems Cyber Security Web Design Computer Networks On completion of this course you may choose to continue onto a second year and top up to the Extended Diploma in IT or progress to other further study. Alternatively, you may wish to progress to employment or apply for an apprenticeship. This course runs for one year beginning in September.
