This is a full-time one year course. Students will work individually and in small groups. The emphasis is on developing an understanding of the use of information using new technology. Most of the course is done in a practical way on computers. Computer skills and experience in standard applications are covered. Hours of Lessons per Week : 8.7 Indicative Group Size : 18
What you need to get on
Students starting this course should have 2 GCSEs at grade D including English together with 2 GCSEs at grade E or BTEC Level 1 in IT Communication Key Skills Level 1 and a good report. No previous knowledge of computers is needed. The syllabus has been written so that it should appeal equally to female and male students.

One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
