Course Outline The course will consist of 4 units. It involves the study of British, European and World history spanning a period of 200 years. What will I learn on this course? The course will enable you to: • develop your interest in and enthusiasm for history; • acquire and effectively communicate knowledge and understanding of periods of history; • explore the significance of events, individuals, issues and societies in history; • understand the nature of historical evidence and the methods used by historians in analysis and evaluation; • develop your understanding of how the past has been interpreted and represented. What will I learn on this course? This course will appeal to students who: • have a genuine interest in reading; • enjoy participating in discussion, debate, expressing and justifying their opinions; • enjoy learning in a variety of active ways, including discussions, presentations, role plays and research as well as individual study and essay writing; • enjoy studying a subject which will increase their understanding of the world today; • want to keep their options open for further study – history is a well-regarded qualification for a wide range of courses in higher education and for future careers.
