This course gives students the opportunity to gain knowledge and understanding of Health and Social Care and to develop skills in the sector. It also gives students the potential opportunity to gain employment within the Health and Social Care sector. Successful completion of the course can lead to progression on to the BTEC Level 3 Health and Social Care course and/ or employment or an apprenticeship. This course is designed as an introductory program for students interested in pursuing careers in Health and Social Services. The topics covered include Communication, Individual Rights, Cultural Diversity, and Human Lifespan Development. Students have the opportunity to enhance their learning through work experience in a care setting of their choice.

What you need to get on

Five GCSEs which include: Three GCSEs grade 9-3, anadditional two GCSEs grade 9-2 and a satisfactory school reference. Including English Language at grade 2 and maths at grade 2 as a minimum. Equivalent qualifications will be considered.

How you are assessed

One subject in depth, assessed largely through coursework and projects.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
