This course aims to allow students to develop an understanding and awareness of the key concepts within the Health and Social Care Sectors. By examining and evaluating current best practice, as well as developing your knowledge of the anatomy and physiology of the human body, this course will best prepare you for further study or employment within the sector. The course offers students the opportunity to gain a pass, merit or distinction in both the units and examinations, which is then combined to give an overall outcome. BTEC National Extended Certificate in Health and Social Care: This course offers a broad basis of study for the Health and Social Care sector. It is equivalent in size to one A Level. There are four units of study of which two are externally marked (units 1 and 2). Topics include Human Lifespan Development, Working in Health and Social Care, Meeting the Needs of Service Users and Psychological Disorders and there care. External assessment accounts for 58% of the overall outcome of the course. Students will also be encouraged to undertake an organised work placement, which they have organised themselves to enable them to be able to apply their learning within a real-life situation.

5 grade 5s, including GCSE English, Mathematics and Biology. Minimum of grade 5:4 in Combined Science
