What the college says

Four units require you to produce portfolios while the other two are tested through an examination. The external examinations questions are short answers, stepped, structured or open responses. For examination units you do not have to produce portfolios. Each unit completed generates a score. These scores are then aggregated to determine the final grade for the course.

What you need to get on

5 GCSEs at grade C or above. This subject is a natural progression from GCSE Child Development or Level 2 Health and Social Care but you do not have to have studied these subjects to take the course.

How you are assessed

Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
