Students enrolling on this programme will spend a minimum of 3 sessions a week in our modern well equipped hairdressing salons. You will be taught by vocational lecturers who have worked, or are currently working, in the hairdressing industry they therefore have a wide and current experience of the industries needs and trends. Salon skills are supported by underpinning theory knowledge. The Diploma in Hairdressing has a number of mandatory units including health and safety, consultation, shampooing and conditioning, cutting, colouring and styling hair. It also has a number of optional units for you to choose from. Your lecturer will guide you when making this choice. Your initial training is carried out on blocks and group members before progressing onto family, friends and paying clients. You need to be prepared to work a late evening mirroring the requirements of industry. You will be expected to behave in a highly professional manner at all times while in the salons and surrounding public areas. You will wear a uniform and will need to bring your hairdressing equipment to all salon sessions.
