What the college says
A Barbering Standard apprenticeship is typically delivered over 22 months. Applicants do not require experience however, we will take prior experience into account. Employed for a minimum of 30 hours, 20% of your paid working time will be dedicated to training of new skills, in the workplace or at our City Centre salons. The apprentice will develop skills during the ‘practical period’ of training in the workplace and Training School. At the Gateway stage the employer, apprentice and provider will agree the apprentice is ready to undertake End Point Assessment. Independent assessment will complete the apprenticeship awarding Pass or Distinction. Apprentice, employer and provider partnership is essential to success. Regular reviews of progress and engagement support training and skills development by visiting the workplace to inform and agree targets and achievement. Training is individually tailored, we offer flexible training routes to support apprentice and employer requirements.
What you need to get on
Applicants with no experience are welcome. Any prior experience or achievement will inform individual programme planning and delivery.
How you are assessed
Learning a trade with tools and equipment, often in a college workshop or salon.
What this level means
The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
