What the college says

GCSE English Language gives students the opportunity to explore the meanings behind fiction and non-fiction texts (such as extracts from 19th century literature and 20th century newspaper articles) and to develop their own imaginative and transactional writing skills.

What you need to get on

Students should have already achieved an English grade 3 (or 4) at GCSE and have followed the content taught in Years 10 and 11. There may be the opportunity for early entry (in November) for those students who have achieved a high grade 3 (or 4) at GCSE.

How you are assessed

Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
