What the college says

Wind is not only one of the most important sources of clean and sustainable energy for the UK, but it is also a highly viable micro-generation option for households. The purpose of this programme is to introduce the technology, application and practical use of every aspect of large- and small-scale wind energy utilisation. The programme includes learning to assess the potential of a wind turbine for your home, decide what size and type you need, and how to maintain it. We cover how to set up a wind farm or other large-scale operation, from site exploration to planning permission and installation. In addition, we discuss the environmental regulations for wind energy production in the UK and explore its potential as an income generator. Finally, you will be taught about the basics of electricity generation with turbines so that you can understand their impact on your local community.
