What the college says

The insight Geography provides into our understanding of the world, and the contemporary nature of the issues explored, make it an ideal subject to study at A Level. You will study Physical and Human Geography. In each area of study you will consider your own values and attitudes to the issues being studied and will develop a range of geographical skills. You will be expected to attend a 4 day self funded field trip as a mandatory part of the A Level - to use for the coursework component of the course. In Year 13 you will take 2 external exams (80%) and complete 1 coursework component (20%) to acquire your A Level grade. Geography is a highly successful and enjoyable subject within the Academy. Geography is highly regarded by universities and employers in providing students with a rounded approach to academic study and gives them the skills needed for university or work. Future career paths are very broad including commerce, law, marketing and management to research, teaching and planning.
