Through studying complex ‘real world’ issues geography requires pupils to be flexible and adaptable; having the confidence to deal with the unexpected. Students with AS or A Level Geography learn and use a variety of transferable skills that are in great demand by employers and universities alike. Geography supports university applications for almost any science-based course and an equally wide range of humanities courses such as media, politics, law and philosophy. Business, ICT, travel and tourism and health and social care also combine well with the subject providing a large array of future career opportunities.

What you need to get on

A minimum grade 5 at GCSE geography from taking the higher papers, students who do not have geography at GCSE may be considered.

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
