This is a COMPULSORY course for students entering the Sixth Form, who have not previously achieved the Government’s required grade in GCSE English Language.

What you need to get on

This is a new course as there have been changes to how GCSE English Language is examined. The qualification will be graded on a nine-point scale: 1 to 9 – where 9 is the best grade. Speaking and Listening (Non-examination assessed; 0% weighting of GCSE)• Paper 1: Exploring creative reading and writing (50%) Written paper: 1 hour 45 minutes Paper 2: Writers’ viewpoints and perspectives (50%) Written paper: 1 hour 45 minutes

Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
