Level 2Stepping stonesGCSE31 weeksPart time

What the college says

Greater Manchester residents only. The focus of the course is on developing your writing skills and improving the quality of the English you use. You will also develop your ability to analyse and interpret the effect of language in different forms of writing. You will be expected to read a variety of different texts and engage in studies outside the classroom. The course is intensive, from September 2024 – June 2025, at the Oldham Library & Lifelong Learning Centre. Classes are held during the day to fit in with children’s school hours and employment.

What you need to get on

You will already have a level of English which allows you to complete the requirements of the course. Prior to starting the course, you will join a Pre-GCSE class which will be running remotely and this will give you an introduction to the GCSE. This will also start the process of assessing your strengths and areas to develop so you can work with your tutor on an Individual Learning Plan and personal targets to suit you.

How you are assessed

Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.
