What the college says

You need to be 19 or over on the 31st of August 2025 and not have a grade A* - C / grade 9 - 4 GCSE in English Language. Entry Requirements You will need to complete an online initial assessment. This will help us place you on the correct course. This course will not be right for you if do not get at least Level 1 in your initial assessment. This course will not be for you if already have a grade C / grade 4 GCSE. If you are not at the level needed for GCSE, we may offer you a place on a different English Language course. Please note: If you are an ESOL learner without a Level 1 ESOL qualification this course will be too hard for you. Exams You will work towards the AQA English Language GCSE. You must sit the final exams with Surrey Adult Learning, not with another provider. The exam dates are fixed nationally, and we cannot change them. You will be given these dates at the start of your course by your tutor. Attendance You will be required to attend at least 90% of your classes. Should your attendance fall below this, your place on the course may be at risk. This is an academic course, and you must allow time for private study at home of at least 2-3 hours per week.
