Why study this subject? Many employers and admissions tutors will require you to have English GCSE at grade 5 or above. Students who achieve this will have a much wider variety of options available to them which may include access to advanced level courses or employment. As a Transition Year student it is likely that you will want to progress to A levels in Year 13. Having a good pass in GCSE English will help you with this.

What you need to get on

*If you have NOT achieved a grade 4 or above in your GCSE then you MUST choose this course.* General Entry Criteria Students wishing to follow the Level 2 Transition Year have to achieve: • 5 GCSEs at grade 3 or higher • Grade 4 or higher in either English or Mathematics.

How you are assessed

Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.

What this level means

The GCSE-equivalent step, and the usual route into Level 3.
