Philosophy is recognized by universities and employers as a rigorous discipline and is associated with careers as varied as Law, Politics, Medicine, Journalism, Business, Teaching and the Arts. It is a discipline with a multitude of transferable skills which will open doors for you in whatever future you want to have. How can I know that the world I perceive actually exists? How should I make moral decisions? Can we ever talk meaningfully about God? Are our brains something separate from our minds? These questions and many others like them have been asked for thousands of years, and in A-Level Philosophy we shall scrutinise classic philosophical responses to these enduring questions and add our own considered contributions to the debate. With lessons built on seminar and discussion, Philosophy offers you intellectual autonomy as we teach you how to think, not what to think, ensuring you learn how to argue for your ideas logically, eloquently and clearly; enabling you to back up your own viewpoints effectively and break down the arguments of others. If you love debating issues that matter and arguing for what you believe in, then Philosophy A-level is the course for you!

What you need to get on

In order to study a subject at A-Level a student must have achieved at least a grade 7 at GCSE in that subject (where that subject was an option at GCSE) Note Read information on school's admission website
