Geography is not only up-to-date and relevant, it is one of the most exciting, adventurous and valuable subjects to study today. So many of the world's current problems boil down to geography, and need the geographers of the future to help us understand them. Geography at A Level is an interesting, useful and relevant subject for all sixth form students. The Geography Department aims to foster a love of the subject and works hard to ensure that all students thrive and excel in their geographical studies. Whether you have an innate curiosity about the world you live in or whether you wish to further your academic or career prospects you will find that geography is an active and exciting course to follow. The exam course we currently follow is the AQA Geography specification through which a range of different aspects of geography are covered, with topics being chosen to meet the requirements of our students. The topics at AS are rivers (flooding and management); population change; glaciation and global health issues, with the following being studied at A2; plate tectonics; world cities and; development and globalisation. Geography is one of a number of subjects currently undergoing a national reform under the guidance of Ofqual and the Department for Education. At the time of writing we are awaiting official accreditation of the new courses and a final decision regarding the specification that will be followed will not be made until this accreditation is complete, however it is

In order to study a subject at A-Level a student must have achieved at least a grade 7 at GCSE in that subject (where that subject was an option at GCSE) Note Read information on school's admission website
