Students of our Edexcel A level in Urdu will develop an understanding of Urdu in a variety of contexts and genres, and learn to communicate confidently, clearly and effectively in Urdu. They'll also develop an awareness and understanding of the contemporary society, cultural background and heritage of the countries or communities where Urdu is spoken. Theme 1:The Evolution of Pakistani Society: Theme 1 is set in the context of Pakistan only. This theme covers society, past and present. Theme 2: The Political and Artistic Culture in the wider Urdu Speaking WorldTheme 2 is set in the context of Urdu-speaking countries and communities. This theme covers artistic culture past and present (Cinema) and political culture past and present (Media). What you need to get on
The entry requirement is a 6 grade in GCSE Urdu. However, individual cases will be considered and performance in other subjects will also be taken into account.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
