The Edexcel specification for A-level is designed to encourage students: • To develop an interest and enthusiasm for language. • To communicate confidently, clearly and effectively in the language. • To develop an awareness and understanding of the contemporary society and cultural background of the countries where the language is spoken. This exciting course offers the opportunity to study film, literature and history alongside the culture, politics, and social aspects of the Spanish speaking world. Students will have the opportunity to work with native speakers to improve their fluency and are encouraged to participate in the exchange programme with our partner school near Madrid. Spanish is the official language of 21 countries and is spoken by over 400 million people so it makes sense to learn it as your second language!

What you need to get on

42 points from your best 8 subjects; GCSE Maths and English (Language or Literature) at a minimum of grade 4, in addition to: The entry requirement to study Spanish at A level is a Grade 6.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
