Languages offered at All Hallows at A Level: French, Spanish, German and Mandarin. Each course is designed to give you a profound understanding of your chosen language. You will study topics which are relevant to young people and learn how to express your opinions on them. You will learn about the mechanics of the language - e.g. grammar and vocabulary and about how people live and use language in the countries where the language is spoken. Your study will include cultural topics such as film and works of literature. Assessment You will be externally assessed at the end of year 13. The Listening, Reading and Writing exams account for 70% of your marks, and the Speaking test accounts for 30%. What else do I need to know? You will have the opportunity to take part in trips and will be strongly encouraged to visit a country where your language is spoken. You will benefit from small size classes. Results at All Hallows puts all languages in the top 25% of schools, according to ALPS data.

5 GCSE’s grades 9-4 including English Language. Grade 5 in your chosen Language.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
