Students learn to question, think, criticise, analyse and respect a wide range of philosophical, ethical and religious viewpoints. The course explores complex ideas including philosophical arguments for the existence of God, the problem of evil and suffering, and the challenges of science to religious experience. It focuses on religion and morality, investigates different ethical theories and looks at their application to current issues such as embryo research and animal testing. There are opportunities to critically analyse Christianity, including textual, theological, historical, ethical, phenomenological and philosophical perspectives.

What you need to get on

Requires minimum grade 5 in GCSE Religious Education (if GCSE Religious Education has not been studied then minimum grade 5 is required in a humanities subject).

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
