What the college says
Physics is used to solve problems – health, environmental, social and technological. It’s about practical applications in the world around us but also involves concepts such as the origins of the universe and the smallest building blocks of the cosmos. Students studying physics will learn about fundamental physical concepts and how to apply these in everyday and technological settings. The course demonstrates the usefulness of the subject and illustrates the impact that discoveries in physics have had on the way people live. There is a constant drive towards new ways of thinking with a clear focus on curiosity-driven Physics. It is worth remembering that at least 40% of the assessed content requires mathematical skills at level 2 or above. At least 15% of the examination will assess knowledge, skills and understanding related to practical work.
