What the college says

Physics has long been thought of as the most fundamental of all sciences, with studies ranging in scale such as the huge studies into massive objects such as galaxies to studying the tiniest particles such as atoms. A-level physics is the study into everything and how it works, full of exciting questions and opportunities to prove theories that are still in doubt. It will teach you the basic principles of the science, giving you a huge range of knowledge into the guiding forces of the universe, including velocity, acceleration, force, mass and energy.. As the A-level physics course progresses you will be exposed to important laws and theories, such as Newton's theory of gravitation and Einstein's theory of special relativity. You will learn about the nature of waves, electricity and the nuclear model. In Y13 students will have an exciting opportunity to make some choices around an area of study that they are most interested in, whether it is: astrophysics; medical physics; engineering; electronics or the great 'turning points' in Physics. There will be opportunity for trips & residential stays, to help further knowledge and understanding and to provide enrichment.
