The Physics department at llford County High School comprises of a specialist team of teachers with a wide range of expertise. The department is extremely well equipped with a large amount of cutting edge apparatus. Statistically, the Physics department is very strong in terms of examination results, however, this is merely the tip of the iceberg of available opportunities. Our philosophy is that students not only leave the department with excellent grades but a wealth of experiences found in only a few schools nationally. These include participation in active research projects into Cosmic Rays and Particle Physics in conjunction with some of the country's and world's leading universities. These projects have led to the department being part of the 2012 Royal Society Summer Exhibition and the Art installation "You Are Here....". The department and students have been invited to CERN to visit usually restricted areas.

Minimum - Pathway A = 3 A Levels 1. Students must achieve at least 8 GCSE qualifications with an average grade/point score of 6 or higher. 2. At least 6 of the GCSE qualifications must be a grade 6 or higher. 3. Students must achieve a GCSE English and GCSE Mathematics at grade 5 or higher 4. The top 8 subjects must have been completed after May of the last academic year i.e. in the last 16 months GCSE Physics at Grade 6 or higher OR GCSE Double Science with two Grade 7's or higher
