OCR: To seek an expressive and interpretive artistic approach to the visual world, which is produced with the aid of lens based media and may be manipulated by digital technology.Images surround us so understanding and being able to objectively analyse these images in order to navigate the digital world is increasingly essential for everyday life so students will learn how to place photographic images in an historical and cultural context.Students will also learn how to use both SLR and DSLR cameras producing work for a series of units on portraiture, landscapes and documentary photography genres. Alongside digital image editing software students will also learn to develop and print black and white film in a traditional darkroom.Work produced during the course will be entered into local competitions and Art exhibitions in Bridport and Beaminster. Whilst the course is essentially practical, there is an underlying written component to all coursework assignments and essays. This takes the form of supporting work within sketchbooks, whilst final photographs are presented separately.
