Musicians are creative! This course will tap into your creativity and equip you with the skills required to develop your musical knowledge and abilities. You will develop your skills in performance, composition and appraising in terms of musical elements, contexts and language. This contemporary music qualification gives you the opportunity to study a wide range of musical genres. The Subject content is divided into three components: appraising music, performance and composition.

What you need to get on

5 grades 4 or above at GCSE and students who have studied Music at GCSE must have a Grade 5 in the subject. The department may accept students who have achieved a Grade 4 in Music at GCSE providing they are officially graded at a Grade 5 or above on their principle instrument or voice. If you have not taken GCSE Music or graded exams on your principle instrument or voice, you will be required to complete an audition to assess your suitability prior to being made an offer for the A Level course.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
