Our A Level Music course follows on directly from GCSE, following much the same format but allowing for more in-depth analysis of set works, understanding of compositional technique and choices, and features of a wide range of music. This course is great for students who enjoy performing music but also learning and understanding about a range of musical styles. Students will develop their cultural awareness through the music studied and the pieces they perform, with the opportunity to showcase their talents on their chosen instrument. 60% of the course is non-examined assessment, with the remaining 40% a listening exam.

What you need to get on

GCSE Music grade 6 or above. You should be working at Grade 5 (ABRSM) or higher on your instrument, and Grade 5 standard in theory. It is essential that you can read music fluently.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
