GCE A Level in Music
at Townley Grammar School, Bexleyheath · school or sixth form
What the college says
We aim to develop well rounded musicians with a balance of skills in the main aspects of music: performing, composing, harmony, analysing and listening skills. Your grade at GCSE is not necessarily a clear indicator for aptitude at A level; this is why we require a brief audition for course suitability. A pass at grade 5 theory and grade 6 on an instrument or voice are strongly advised, as are some keyboard skills. Townley Grammar offers a range of choirs and ensembles for you to join which will enhance your A Level Music experience, with the opportunity to start new groups to suit your musical interests.
What you need to get on
Minimum of a grade 6 in GCSE Music, plus an audition.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
