What the college says
To study Music you should be a keen musician. Music A Level course embraces a range of musical disciplines and seeks to develop the skills, knowledge and understanding needed to communicate via performance, composition, analysis and listening tasks. Students study both free composition and techniques in the style of composers from Classical & Pop genres. Work may be submitted using acoustic and orchestral instruments with conventional notation or through the use of Logic Pro and Sibelius.
What you need to get on
Grade 6 in GCSE Music as well as a Grade 5 standard on an instrument or voice. It is desirable for students to have Grade 5 theory.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
