A Level Maths provides students with a thorough grounding in the mathematical tools and techniques often needed in the workplace. The logic and reasoning skills developed by studying A Level Maths make sure the qualification is widely respected even in nonmathematical arenas. A Level Maths consists of a Pure Core unit which makes up one-third of the qualification and provides the techniques in Algebra, Geometry, Trigonometry and Calculus that form the fundamental building blocks of the subject. In addition students will also follow units on Mechanics and Statistics.

What you need to get on

Grade 6 or higher at GCSE. If students have a grade 6 they will be expected to undergo an induction course and to pass an entry test.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
