While continuing your study of the French language and developing your skills on this course, you will gain insight into the history, culture and social issues facing French speaking countries today. You will be given regular conversation lessons by our French Assistantes to improve your fluency. The AS concentrates on topics which link to subjects covered at GCSE whilst at A2; students discuss and debate more controversial social issues. During Year 13 you will also study French literature and film; the second year of the course offers the additional opportunity of improving your translation skills. You will learn most of the advanced grammar that you will need for the course during the AS year. The AS and A2 components are both assessed at the end of the year in which they are studied and there is a substantial oral component in both exams.
