The course aims to build on the language foundations set in place by the study of GCSE French. Pupils will gain a much deeper understanding of how the language works, building their ability to use it for speaking and listening, and reading and writing purposes. It is possible for students to take an AS in this subject. Pupils will study the following topics: Aspects of French-speaking society: current trends, Aspects of French-speaking society: current issues, Artistic culture in the French-speaking world, Aspects of political life in the French-speaking world and Grammar, plus one text and one film or two texts from the list set in the specification.

What you need to get on

6 GCSE/BTEC passes at Level 4 or above. It is desirable to achieve a Level 5 or above in this subject at GCSE (or a related subject).

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
