What the college says
Note: This course is the two year A Level. We will not be offering the one year AS Level course. Film Studies is an exciting opportunity to be creative in a way which you may not have experienced before. You will start out learning about the basics of cinema such as "how are films made?" You will then develop your understanding and be able to analyse and discuss complex films in detail. We will study cinema as a medium, as an art form and as a social and economic institution. You will explore at a vast array of films from inside and outside of Hollywood and will learn about editing and production.
What you need to get on
6 or above in GCSE Drama, Merit or above in Technical Award Performing Arts/BTEC L2 plus grade 5 or above in English Literature or English Language.
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
What this level means
The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.
