This Course aims to develop your interest in English Literature through reading widely, critically and independently across different genres. You will explore a range of exciting and challenging literary texts, including poetry, prose and drama from Shakespeare to the modern day. You will develop your skills of analysis and explore the ways that writers create meaning. You will also learn how to construct logical and coherent arguments, as well as learning ways to respond to critical views. To succeed on this course, you will need to enjoy reading and analysing a wide variety of literary fiction and non-fiction.

To be accepted on this course students are required to have achieved at least a grade 5 at GCSE English Language and GCSE English Literature.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
