Do women talk more than men? How do children learn to speak, read and write? How has language changed over time? Throughout the English Language A level course, you will have the opportunity to read a range of extracts, produce your own writing and carry out investigations. English Language is a good option for students who enjoy English but who are less confident with older texts by writers such as Shakespeare and the Romantic poets.

What you need to get on

Five or more 9-4 grades at GCSE including English and Maths. A grade 5 or higher in GCSE English Language or Literature.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
