In the English department we inspire and support all pupils to develop their skills in speaking and listening, reading and writing in order to become confident, articulate, reflective and imaginative young citizens. The English Language course encourages students to develop their interest and appreciation of English through learning about its structures and its functions, its developments and its variations. This course is suitable for students who are interested in the construction and use of the English language in ways that overlap, but are not limited to, the study of literature and the literary imagination.
What you need to get on
5 GCSEs at Grade 5+ including English and Maths as well as Grade 6 in English Language
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
