What the college says

A Level English Language is for students who are interested in how language works, how it evolves, and how it is used in different contexts. It is ideal for those who enjoy analysing spoken and written texts, exploring grammar and structure, and studying the impact of language on society. This subject is particularly useful for students considering careers in journalism, linguistics, teaching, media, publishing, or marketing. It suits those who have strong analytical skills, enjoy writing, and are curious about how language shapes communication in everyday life. No prior study of linguistics is required, but a good grasp of English is beneficial.
