This qualification emphasises practical creativity alongside research and theoretical understanding. Students learn through experience, seeing theatre and making theatre for themselves. They are introduced to a wide range of theatrical styles and contexts as they explore plays practically devised and work on performances.Students choose to develop as a performer or as a designer. Students gain many skills, both theatrical and transferable. Exam papers are designed to allow students to demonstrate their creativity and imagination in interpreting set texts and applying independent thinking as they evaluate live theatre production. Students gain transferable skills such as the ability to work collaboratively, think analytically and research independently. They grow in confidence and develop appreciation of the influences that social and cultural contexts have on decision making.
What you need to get on
Three or more grade 5’s with the remainder at least grade 4 (including English Language and Maths at grade 4).
How you are assessed
Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
