This creative and thought-provoking A-level qualification gives students the practical skills, theoretical knowledge and confidence to succeed in a number of careers, especially those in the creative industries. You will investigate historical, social, cultural, environmental and economic influences on design and technology, whilst enjoying opportunities to put your learning into practice by producing prototypes of your choice. Students will gain a real understanding of what it means to be a designer, alongside the knowledge and skills sought by higher education and employers. There are two units in year 12 and a further two in year 13. Each year will have consist of a Non-exam assessment (NEA) in addition to an exam in Technical Principles.

What you need to get on

Grade 6 in GCSE Product Design, Grade 5 in GCSE Maths and Grade 5 in GCSE English Literature or Language If GCSE Product Design not taken, Grade 6 in GCSE Maths and Grade 5 in GCSE English Literature or Language needed. APS 5.5

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
