A Level Dance is an academic course designed to allow students to further and deepen their knowledge and understanding of dance as an art form. Students need to have a deep love for the subject and be prepared to work hard to achieve the top grades. There are 3 main strands which lead on perfectly from GCSE Dance which are Performance, Choreography and Critical appreciation. The main difference at A level is the level of understanding required of the content and the contextual information needed to fully appreciate the works we study as well as the strength, fitness and ability required to dance at this level.

What you need to get on

GCSE Dance at Grade 6 or above or a suitable level of dance experience gained through the traditional route through grades or competition. Graded examination outcomes should be grade 4 or above. It would be an advantage to have GCSE English Language or English Literature at Grade 6 or above.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
