GCE A Level in Computer Science 2 year course CONTENT OF COURSE: AS Level: The characteristics of contemporary processors, input, output and storage devices • Software and software development • Programming • Exchanging data • Data types, data structures and algorithms • Legal, moral, ethical and cultural issues • Elements of computational thinking • Problem solving and programming • Algorithms. (Assessment by two 1:1/4 Hour exams) A Level: Develops further knowledge and understanding of the same content areas as AS. PLUS The learner will choose a computing problem where they will: Analyse the problem; Design the solution; Develop the solution; Evaluation the solution. (Assessment by two 2:1/2 Hour exams + Project assessment) PROGRESSION ROUTES: It is excellent preparation for students looking to take computing studies at degree level, or for anyone considering any kind of career in computing.

What you need to get on

Entrance Criteria 5A*-C/9-4 including English Lang. Grade B/6 in GCSE Computer Science and Maths required. Students must also have an APS above 5. 6.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
