This course encourages learners to develop: 1) An understanding of, and the ability to apply, the fundamental principles and concepts of Computer Science, including abstraction, decomposition, logic, algorithms and data representation. 2) The ability to analyse problems in computational terms through practical experience of solving such problems, including writing programs to do so. 3) The capacity for thinking creatively, innovatively, analytically, logically and critically. 4) The capacity to see relationships between different aspects of computer science. 5) The ability to articulate the individual (moral), social (ethical), legal and cultural opportunities and risks of digital technology.

What you need to get on

All students entering the Sixth Form to undertake A Levels must have secured 5 GCSE grades at 4 or above, including GCSE English Language and GCSE Mathematics. Ideally, students who choose this option will have a good GCSE in Computer Science, however, anyone with a solid ability in mathematics and the drive to succeed would also be considered. This course contains a minimum of 10% mathematics.
