The A Level Computer Science qualification helps students understand the core academic principles of computer science. Classroom learning is transferred into creating real-world systems through the creation of an independent programming project. Our A Level will develop the student’s technical understanding and their ability to analyse and solve problems using computational thinking. In addition to the end-of-course examinations there is a Non-Examined Assessment which consists of a substantial programming task in which students have to analyse a problem, then design and code a solution in a text -based programming language. This course would suit students who have followed the GCSE Computer Science course and who may be thinking of pursuing a career in Computing or studying a Computing-related degree at University. Assessment Overview Computer systems (01) 40% of qualification 140 marks - 2 hours and 30 minutes written paper Algorithms and programming (02) 40% of qualification 140 marks - 2 hours and 30 minutes written paper Programming project (03) 20% of qualification 70 marks Non-exam assessment
