What the college says

Chemistry is a fascinating subject which provides us with an understanding of how the world around us works! We can create new substances to fight disease, to feed the world’s population, to solve the energy crisis, to combat climate change, to provide new materials to improve the quality of life and potentially, to explain life itself. It is the study of the nature of matter - how and why things are and how we can use them. You will find out about baby lotion, medicines, future fuels for transport, pH control in blood, analysing substances, environmental chemistry and solving the world’s energy problems. If you enjoy thinking, problem solving, practical activities and finding out about the universe, this course will suit you!

What you need to get on

To study A Level courses, students need to achieve at least five Grade 6s as a basic entry level. However, if students wish to study one of the three A Level sciences, such as Chemistry, they must achieve a minimum of a GCSE grade 7 in the science they wish to study or a 77 in Combined GCSE Science. All applications will be considered on an individual basis, and we reserve the right to make an exception in exceptional cases.
