Chemistry is an exciting and fascinating subject which plays a crucial part in our society’s health and prosperity. Chemistry will enable you to develop skills and knowledge and will form a foundation for the study of related subjects or equip you for the world of work. A Level Chemistry builds on the knowledge and understanding gained at GCSE. Practical work will form an essential element of your course and you will further develop your ability to work safely with chemicals and accurately with equipment. You will study what substances are made of, how substances behave and how substances can be made. Mathematical and problem solving skills will also be important though it is not essential to study A Level Mathematics to be successful in Chemistry at A Level.

What you need to get on

GCSE Grade 7 (or equivalent) in Chemistry with an average 6 in Separate Sciences or Grade 7-7 in Combined Science , Grade 6 in Mathematics and English.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
