What the college says

The fast growing world of media, technology and business creates an exciting and ever-broadening, creative landscape for young designers to enjoy diverse, exciting and rewarding careers in the arena of commercial arts. Lots of companies that are creating and packaging their products need graphic design services to make the product look attractive. Entertainment companies are always looking for graphic design services. This includes filmmakers, gaming companies, animators, comic book writers, and companies from similar fields of work.

What you need to get on

Grade C or above in GCSE Art or Graphic Design. Students without this grade will need to show evidence of artistic and creative ability by submitting a portfolio of design or artwork. This can consist of drawings from life or computer-based designs. This would need to be submitted on or before Enrolment Day to a member of the Art Department. We have had many students successfully complete the course without the required GCSE scores.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.

What this level means

The A-level-equivalent step, and what universities and employers ask for.

Is it open to 16 to 18 year olds?

Approved for 16 to 18 study on the government's Section 96 list.
