Functional Skills Engish helps you gain daily confidence in reading, writing, and speaking. You can develop your spelling and skills for form-filling and short notes. Listen, understand and make relevant contributions to discussions with others in various contexts. Apply their language understanding to adapt delivery and content to suit the audience and purpose. Read various text types confidently and fluently, applying their knowledge and understanding of texts to their writing. Write texts of varying complexity with accuracy, effectiveness, and correct spelling, punctuation and grammar. Understand the situations and audiences for which planning, drafting and using formal language are important and when they are less critical.

What you need to get on

No formal qualifications are required, but learners should have a basic level of literacy and communication skills to engage with the content. Eligibility Criteria You must be aged 19 or over. You need to have been living in the UK for the past three years and hold the right to live and work in the UK. You must commit 10 hours weekly to your studies. Entry level and Level 1 study, English and maths retakes, and supported programmes.
