A Level French builds on the knowledge, understanding and skills gained at GCSE. It fosters a range of transferable skills including communication, critical thinking, research skills and creativity, which are valuable to the individual and society. The course focuses on how French-speaking society has been shaped, socially and culturally, and how it continues to change. Using authentic spoken and written materials, aspects of the social context are studied, together with aspects of the artistic life of Frech-speaking countries.

What you need to get on

GCSE French Grade 6 Combines well with: Languages really come into their own when set alongside expertise in another field. It is therefore reasonable to suggest that French will combine well with any other A level subject.

How you are assessed

Academic subjects, mostly exams, three or four at once. The traditional route to university.
